Clinical Prioritisation Criteria

Clinical Prioritisation Criteria (CPC) are clinical decision support tools that were developed to help ensure referrals to public specialist outpatient services in Queensland are triaged according to their clinical urgency in a safe, consistent and equitable manner.

The value of CPC are that:

  • Referrals have all the information required for appropriate triage
  • Specialist outpatient appointments are delivered in order of clinical urgency
  • Patients are ready for care at their first specialist outpatient appointment
  • Improved referral and communication processes between referrers and specialist outpatient services.
