Integrated Care Innovation Fund

The Integrated Care Innovation Fund (ICIF) provides financial support to innovative projects that deliver better integration of care, address fragmentation in services and provide high-value healthcare.

Funded projects also demonstrate a willingness to embrace and encourage the uptake of new technology alongside the benefits of integrating care and improving communication between health care sectors.

The ICIF team works in collaboration with HHSs and their local PHNs and other community health providers to develop and progress new models of care and approaches to integrated service delivery.

Each project funded by ICIF will be evaluated by the Healthcare Improvement Unit in the Clinical Excellence Division, in partnership with project teams and the Australian Centre for Health Services Innovation, to inform future investment in services and models of care across the state.

A range of outcomes will be evaluated including:

  • change to costs and economic outcomes
  • change to patient satisfaction and patient health
  • acceptability to clinicians
  • information about the likely success or not of implementing new services and models of care.

A consultation process with HHSs has resulted in the full allocation of the $35m ICIF fund.
