Matt (pictured on screen above) from our Telehealth team recently presented at Confed18, and fittingly, he did it via videoconference! Confed18 is the National Health Service Confederation’s annual conference and exhibition event where health and social care leaders from across the globe share challenges and solutions to healthcare delivery and services. This year's event, celebrating the 70th birthday of the NHS, was held in Manchester, United Kingdom, and focused on six themes: digital, transformation, integration, efficiency and productivity, workforce and leadership.
Matt was recommended by a colleague connected to the NHS Confederation, who suggested he would be an engaging speaker on practical examples of the innovative use of technology. He presented via videoconference from Brisbane to provide delegates with an overview of how telehealth has changed the way healthcare is delivered in Queensland. Having worked in the Telehealth space for five years, Matt discussed Queensland’s experience with implementing and using Telehealth to overcome the challenges of delivering healthcare equitably and efficiently across such a large state with a decentralised population.
Matt said feedback from the session chair indicated the talk was well received and delegates seemed to enjoy the opportunity to learn more about success factors contributing to the growth in uptake of telehealth in Queensland, and how telehealth may be utilised more within the NHS.
Following the presentation Matt also participated on the panel for a Q&A segment (pictured) that focused on how different organisations use technology to deliver care across different areas and dispersed communities. "I provided responses to questions relating to the potential of telehealth for clinical education to reduce clinical isolation for health professionals working in rural areas, and the application of telehealth for care provision in the mental health sector," he said.
The next Confed event will take place on June 19 and 20 in Manchester in 2019. For more information visit their website.
