Academy for Emerging Leaders in Patient Safety

A handful of Queenslanders recently attended the Academy for Emerging Leaders in Patient Safety forum in Sydney.

Dr Michael Tresillian, currently working with the Clinical Excellence Division as one of three Improvement Fellows, said he attended the first AELPS in 2016. “It was a real eye-opening experience that galvanised my interests in patient safety and quality. It also drove me to pursue a Fellowship with CED.”

Michael attended the forum as a junior faculty this year and hopes to continue attending as faculty on an annual basis. “This year it was very rewarding to observe the scholars and watch their understanding and thought process change as the forum progressed. It was also great to see them leave, inspired to return to their work places and start working on change.”

“I’m looking forward to hearing how they progress over the next 12 months on their new journey as emerging leaders in patient safety.”

Jacquie Marks, another CED Improvement Fellow also attended AELPS 2018 as a scholar, and we wish her all the best with her ongoing studies.
