Friday, November 16, 2018

Happy Birthday to the Consumer Integrated Mental Health Application (CIMHA) which turns 10 tomorrow!

Delivered into production in November 2008, CIMHA replaced three legacy systems to create an integrated electronic mental health medical record. Since its go live the application has undergone 16 major software upgrades, delivering enhancements based on end-user feedback and changes to models of service.

Several projects are in the pipeline for CIMHA including a pilot project expected to start in early 2019 that will enable health workers from non-government organisations who provided services at three Queensland Health facilities to access and contribute to consumer records within CIMHA. Upcoming enhancements to the application include the ability to securely transfer clinical documents to general practitioners and the My Health Record. Planning is also underway for the integration of alcohol and other drugs services into CIMHA.

CIMHA also supports the objectives outlined in Priority 3 of Connecting Care to Recovery 2016-2021 (Better use of ICT in enhancing clinical practice, information sharing, data collections and performance reporting), currently being implemented by the Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Branch in consultation with key stakeholders.

The next 10 years are shaping up to be very exciting indeed! Congratulations CIMHA team!
