Low benefit care: Runs on the board

Low benefit care: Runs on the board will showcase programs of work from around Queensland that are reducing low benefit care, with a focus on the 3 statewide priorities identified at the Queensland Clinical Senate's August meeting.

In August 2019, the Queensland Clinical Senate, in partnership with the Queensland Statewide Clinical Networks, hosted the Maximising benefits of care meeting to identify low benefit procedures and interventions that should be priorities for Queensland.

The Senate’s November 2019 meeting, 'Low benefit care: Runs on the board', will build on that. It will showcase programs of work from around Queensland that are reducing low benefit care with a focus on the 3 statewide priorities identified at the August meeting:

  • Improving the quality use of medicines to optimise care in frail and older patients
  • Improving end of life planning and care in end stage disease
  • Reducing unnecessary blood testing.

Following the meeting, the Senate will publish a book of the abstracts received.
