Hundreds of health professionals from across Queensland converged on the Mercure Hotel North Quay on 1 and 2 June for the very first Clinical Excellence Showcase. The showcase connected health service staff with ideas, initiatives and programs that are delivering better outcomes for patients and staff with the view of encouraging scale-up and spread of great ideas.
With the tagline Collaborate – Evolve – Disrupt – almost 50 speakers from a number of health services presented their projects. The use of concurrent sessions meant attendees could choose the topics of most interest to them and create their own agenda. The Showcase App enabled guests to interact directly with each other and guest speakers, view presentations, share their thoughts on the social wall, and connect to their social media pages to spread the conversation. Across the two days there were 2,539 interactions on the App (posts, comments, photos and messages).
Plenary sessions were delivered on both days and followed by a panel discussion so audience members could ask questions and engage with the key speakers. A particularly poignant presentation came from consumer representative Helen Mees at the end of day one. Helen said she could feel the buzz in the air and that "this is what it must be like to work for Google." Helen said she felt inspired having attended the showcase but challenged us to keep the momentum going.
